Summer Jobs FAQ
Our Summer jobs come with a lot of different layers to them. We understand you have questions, and we have the answers.
I am not an EU citizen can I still work for STS?
Yes, given that you have a valid working visa and are eligible to be employed by a Swedish company. We will need you to provide us information on your eligibility to work for us during the recruitment process.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to sponsor a candidate’s visa application.
If I am not a native speaker of English, can I apply?
Yes, STS welcomes all applicants who are proficient in English, being native is not a requirement.
I am not available for the whole summer, can I still apply?
Yes, we have a variety of positions that have different time periods. Some jobs have the duration of two weeks and others up to two months. Please read more about the time period for all the positions under additional information and on the specific position you are interested in. During the application process you will be asked to specify your availability.
When will I hear if my application has been successful?
If you have applied to become an Activity/Group Leader offers will not be sent out the end of March - April (and sometimes offers are sent even later). If you have applied to become a part of our Centre Staff Team, offers will not be sent out the end of February - March.
People are booking trips later and later, which means our extension of contracts must follow. We know the process is long, and while we wish we could give offers sooner we typically will wait until the above dates.
Do I need to have a police background check to be employed?
STS recruits in the terms set out of a safer recruitment policy. We are required to conduct a background check on all applicants. This include a police record check and character reference check before a contract can be signed. However if you are from a country that has strict regulations in providing this (For example, Finland) we have a different procedure in place that will be communicated to you.
Can I choose where I will work?
No, unfortunately we cannot provide applicants the opportunity to choose where they work. Since we want to ensure that we have great teams on all location’s STS will create the teams based on qualifications and language ability. Destinations will be given to candidates depending upon their previous experience and availability.
